Best Breakfast Potatoes Ever: Visit to Woodberry Kitchen in Baltimore, MD for Brunch

It's been almost a week since I've had the best breakfast potatoes.

If you read the title of this post, you can easily figure out where I've had the best breakfast potatoes ever: Woodberry Kitchen.

I've heard amazing things about Woodberry Kitchen, located in Baltimore, on Twitter and from my friends.

So when my friend Cecilia decided to get a zip car for a day and asked me what we should do, I suggested making reservations at Woodberry Kitchen and driving to Baltimore for a day.

That's exactly what we did. Cecilia has been to this restaurant before, but this was my first time. I was scared that all the hype and praise I've heard will elevate my expectations, which will come crashing down once I tried the food. Cecilia assured me that would not be the case.

Our trip started off with a few mishaps. First, there was a giant storm the night before. Luckily, neither one of us lost electricity, but some of the streets were closed because of fallen trees. Then, there was an issue of locating each other as my phone had almost zero reception, but eventually we were in the same place at the same time and on our way to Baltimore hungry and in need of caffeine.

Both Cecilia and I ordered Direct Trade Press Coffee and then longingly looked at the menu trying to figure out which dish called our name. The problem, if you can call it that, was that there were at least four dishes that I wanted to try. Alas, I had to settle on one. {Keep in mind that the brunch menu on Saturday is not the same as the one on Sunday...go figure.}

In the end, Cecilia ordered Cast Iron Skillet Eggs with summer squash, beans, and toast {with a side of bacon!}. I love the presentation and let's just say that the skillet was almost perfectly clean in the end.

I ordered the Breakfast Burger made with house-ground chuck, fried egg, bacon, cheddar and served with skillet potatoes. We think the skillet potatoes were made with lard...perhaps that's why they were absolutely dreamy. What's dreamy to me? {Well, Taye Diggs...but we are talking about food, right?} They were tender on the inside and then crunchy and slightly charred on the outside. I shared one or two with Cecilia and then warned her I was done sharing.

The burger was medium rare and juicy. I also LOVED the sliced pickles that came with my meal and in fact asked for an extra bowl of those.

There was no way I could fit the entire burger in my mouth, so I ate it with a fork and a knife.

And then we had dessert! I was disappointed that Woodberry Kitchen was out of the sour cherry ice cream, but we made another excellent choice: sour cherry Sundae. Ooh la la. Good thing I suggested we share ;)

I feel like a visit back is in order!

Have you had a great brunch lately? Where? What did you order?

Next week I'm back to blogging about recipes ;)

LOVE Woodberry Kitchen, I had a kitchen burger there for dinner, among other things and it was fantastic. I've also had flat breads, tongue, drinks, etc. I absolutely love their butter, I think they make it in-house!
